Rice offense racked up 627 yards of total offense, jumping out to a big lead before earning a 48-34 victory over the defense in the 2021 Blue Gray Spring Game at Rice Stadium Friday night.
The Story
The offense jumped out to an early lead as Wiley Green led the it down the field for a 70-yard scoring drive, capped off by Khalan Griffin's 20-yard touchdown run. On the next possession, the defense held the offense but Collin Riccitelli connected on a 45-yard field goal. The defense got on the board, scoring points for three-and-outs, sacks, turnovers and several other metrics. TJ McMahon, who led the quarterbacks with 200 yards and two touchdowns on 8-of-13 passing; led the offense down the field before Brian Hibbard scored on a five-yard run. McMahon then connected on touchdowns with Caleb Chappelle (four yards) and Andrew Mason (65 yards). Jake Constantine added a 23-yard touchdown pass to Bradley Rozner.
Griffin led the rushing attack with 17 carries for 125 yards and two touchdowns. Juma Otoviano added 13 carries for 64 yards. Bradley Rozner led the receiving corp with five receptions for 72 yards and a touchdown. Andrew Mason added two catches for 69 yards and a touchdown.
