2021 Conference USA Championship
The Rice men's tennis team will face a familiar postseason foe in its opening match of the 2021 Conference USA Championship at 9 a.m. (central) on Friday at the Halton-Wagner Tennis Complex in Charlotte, North Carolina.
The Owls (9-11) will take on Old Dominion (10-9) in one of two opening round matches on Friday. The Owls and Monarchs faced off in the title match in both 2016 and 2017 with Rice emerging with the championship in each. ODU captured the conference title the following year, defeating FAU at the George R. Brown Tennis Center.
The winner of the Rice-ODU match will take on the winner of Southern Miss-FAU at 11 a.m. on Saturday in the first of two semifinal matches. The championship will be decided at 10 a.m. on Sunday.
Middle Tennessee is the top seed for the championship and is the defending champion, capturing the crown in 2019. The 2020 event was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
