
Abikhaled, Landa Named to C-USA All-Academic Team

Two Owls named to six-person squad
DALLAS – Rice senior cross country runners Andrew Abikhaled and Hociel Landa each earned spots on the Conference USA Men's Cross Country six-person All-Academic Team, the league office announced on Wednesday (10/26).
Abikhaled earned his second straight C-USA Cross Country All-Academic Team honor and third overall (T&F in 2020-21). The Austin, Texas native has earned a 3.80 GPA in Neuroscience while garnering a 4.0 GPA in Master of Bioscience & Healthy Policy. Abikhaled has twice finished in the Top-20 this season, placing 19th at both the Rice Invitational and Texas A&M Invitational. Abikhaled was an Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar awardee in 2020-21 and has been named to the C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll three times.
Landa, who was a USTFCCCA All-Academic member last season, earned his first career C-USA All-Academic Team recognition. A Mechanical Engineering major with a 3.55 GPA, Landa has posted a pair of Top-10 finishes this season, including a fifth place result at the Texas A&M Invitational in the 8k race. Landa is a three-time member of the C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll and was an Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar awardee in 2020-21.
The duo along with the rest of the Owls will be competing at this Saturday's C-USA Championship race in Charlotte, N.C. at 8 a.m. (CT).
