
Forbes Earns Third C-USA Female Athlete of the Week

Sophomore won individual title at Arturo Barrios Invitational
DALLAS – For a third time this season Rice sophomore All-American cross country runner Grace Forbes was awarded the Conference USA Female Athlete of the Week award, the league office announced on Tuesday (10/19).
Forbes won her third individual title by taking first place at the Texas A&M Arturo Barrios Invitational last Saturday, breaking the meet record in the 6k race with a time of 19:53.3. She defeated the next closest college competitor by nearly 38 seconds in the process.
Forbes ran at a 5:20 pace as she completed her best 6k time as an Owl.
The Owls are now preparing for the Conference USA Championships, which will take place Saturday, Oct. 30 at 9 a.m. in Charlotte, N.C.
Rice recently moved up in the USTFCCCA South Central Region rankings to No. 5 following their fifth place finish at the Arturo Barrios Invitational.
