Rice Heads to WKU in Battle of Conference Unbeatens

HOUSTON — The Rice Soccer team will face its toughest league competition to date this Saturday, Oct. 2, when it travels to Bowling Green, Ky., to take on East Division co-leader WKU. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. and will be streamed on Facebook.

Scouting Rice
• Head Coach Brian Lee is in his third season at the helm of the Rice soccer program. He holds a 32-11-5 record and is 319-199-60 in 24 years as a head coach.
• The Owls are 8-2-1 overall and 2-0-0 in Conference USA after defeating Louisiana Tech in its C-USA home opener.
• Junior midfielder Delaney Schultz is second in Conference USA with six goals, six assists and 17 points. She also leads the team with 35 shots and 19 shots on goal.
• Junior defender/forward Caleigh Boeckx is second on the team with three goals, three assists and nine points.
• Goalkeeper Bella Killgore is second in the league with an 85.2% save percentage while leading with 52 saves. She has a 0.79 goals against average and is averaging 4.73 saves per game.

• The Lady Toppers are 8-1-0 on the year and 3-0-0 in Conference USA after defeating UAB last Friday, 1-0, in double overtime.
• Graduate student defender Avery Jacobsen leads WKU with three goals and is tied for the team lead with eight points.
• Junior forward Katie Erwin has a team-high four assists while tying for the team lead with eight points.
• Graduate student goalkeeper Alexis Bach leads Conference USA with an 86.1% save percentage. She is second with 0.61 goals against average and averages 3.88 saves per game.
• WKU outscoring the opposition, 15-to-5 and have recorded 41 points to the opposition's 14.

• Saturday's match will be the ninth time in history that Rice and WKU will meet.
• Rice holds a 5-1-2 advantage in the series, and is undefeated in Bowling Green with a 2-0-2 record.
