Men’s Basketball Takes On UAB in First Trip Outside of Texas

HOUSTON — Rice will leave Texas for the first time this season when it travels to Birmingham, Ala., Jan. 22 and 23, to face UAB. Friday's game will tip off at 6:30 p.m. and be livestreamed on CUSAtv while Saturday's game is scheduled for 4 p.m. and will be livestreamed at ESPN+.
Scouting Rice
• Rice enters this weekend's Conference USA series with a 10-4 record and 4-2 in C-USA after earning a split against Old Dominion last weekend.
• Sophomore Quincy Olivari leads the Owls with 15.7 points per game, which is ninth in Conference USA. He leads the league in three-point field goal percentage (45.9%), is second in three-point field goals made per game (3.2) and is 10th in field goal percentage (45.3%). He is also second on the team with 4.8 rebounds per game.
• Sophomore guard Travis Evee is second on the team and 10th in C-USA with 15.5 points per game and leads the team in steals (1.4 spg). He also leads C-USA in three-point field goals made per game (3.4) and is second in three-point field goal percentage (41.4%).
• Sophomore forward Max Fiedler is averaging nearly a double-double, scoring 11.5 points per game while pulling down 9.5 rebounds per game, good for second in the conference. He also leads the league and is fourth in the nation (as of Jan. 19) in field goal percentage (69.3%), places fifth in assists per game (4.4) and seventh in assist/turnover ratio (1.9). The Indialantic, Fla., native is also ninth in the country in offensive rebounds, pulling down 3.9 per game.
• Junior guard Chris Mullins is scoring 11.2 points per game while redshirt sophomore forward Riley Abercrombie is adding 8.4 points per game and is third on the team with 4.7 rebounds per game.
• Rice is averaging 79.3 points per game while allowing 71.0.
• The Owls are connecting on 45.5% from the floor and 36.6% from three while holding their opponents to 42.9% from the field and 33.5% from three.
• Rice is also outrebounding its opponents, 39.4-to-35.4 while leading the league with 17.3 assists per game.

• Junior guard Tavin Lovan is averaging 10.9 points per game.
• Junior center Trey Jemison is averaging 7.8 points per game while placing third in the conference in rebounds per game (7.5) and blocks per game (2.3).
