Owls Drop a Pair in San Antonio

Return home to host Lamar and Prairie View next Sunday
In Brief: The Rice men's tennis team dropped both games of a season-opening doubleheader in San Antonio, falling to UTSA 5-2 in the afternoon and dropping a 4-3 decision to Trinity in the nightcap.
The Details: The Owls opened the day by grabbing the doubles point against the Roadrunners, but saw their hosts storm back to win five straight singles matches to clinch the win. Trinity captured the doubles point in the second match and then battled Rice to a draw in the six singles matches.
Notable: Jacob Eskeland contributed a pair of points in singles for the Owls by grinding out wins in both of his matches. He needed tiebreakers to win three of his four sets and took the fourth by a score of 7-5.
Up Next: The Owls return home to open their home season a week from Sunday with a doubleheader. They will host Lamar and the Rice women's team will host Louisiana at 11 a.m. and then close out the day by hosting Prairie View at 4 p.m.
