Men’s Basketball Hosts Old Dominion in Battle of 3-1 Teams

HOUSTON — Rice returns home to host Old Dominion on Jan. 15 and 16 in a battle of 3-1 teams. Friday's game will tip-off 2 p.m. CT while Saturday's game is scheduled for 1 p.m. Both games will be livestreamed at ESPN+.
Scouting Rice
• Rice enters this weekend's Conference USA series with a 9-3 record and 3-1 in C-USA after earning a split at UTEP last weekend.
• Sophomore Quincy Olivari leads the Owls with 16.2 points per game, which is seventh in Conference USA. He leads the league in three-point field goal percentage (48.7%), is second in three-point field goals made per game (3.1) and is seventh in field goal percentage (48.5%).
• Sophomore guard Travis Evee is second on the team and 10th in C-USA with 15.8 points per game and leads the team in steals (1.4 spg). He is also leads C-USA in three-point field goals made per game (3.3), is third in three-point field goal percentage (41.7%) and fifth in assist/turnover ratio (2.1).
• Sophomore forward Max Fiedler is averaging nearly a double-double, scoring 12.5 points per game while pulling down 9.4 rebounds per game, good for second in the conference. He also leads the league in field goal percentage (69.1%) and places seventh in assists per game (4.1).
• Junior guard Chris Mullins is scoring 11.3 points per game while redshirt sophomore forward Riley Abercrombie is adding 8.4 points per game and is second on the team with 4.8 rebounds per game.
• Rice is the highest scoring team in Conference USA, averaging 81.9 points per game while allowing 72.8.
• The Owls are connecting on 46.7% from the floor and 36.9% from three while holding their opponents to 43.3% from the field and 34.4% from three.
• Rice is also outrebounding its opponents, 39.8-to-35.1 while placing leading the league with 17.7 assists per game.
• Head coach Scott Pera begins his fourth season leading the Rice men's basketball program. He holds a record of 44-63.

• Old Dominion enters this weekend with a 7-3 record and 3-1 in Conference USA after sweeping a series against Florida Atlantic last weekend.
• Senior guard Malik Curry is ninth in Conference USA in scoring, averaging 15.9 points per game. He is also fifth in the league in assists (4.4) and free throw percentage (82.4%).
• Redshirt junior guard A.J. Oliver II is second on the team with 11.1 points per game.
• Junior forward Kalu Ezikpe is averaging 10.5 points per game. He is fourth in the league in rebounds per game (6.8) and fifth in blocks per game (1.4).
• Old Dominion is averaging 70.3 points per game while allowing just 69.5.
• The Monarchs are connecting on 44.6% from the field but just 29.7% from three. Their opponents are making 43.6% from the floor and 35.2% from behind the arc.
• ODU is outrebounding its opponents, 36.0-to-33.5.
