Owls Return Home for Final Weekend
Rice will put the finishing touches on the C-USA regular season this weekend with a pair of home contests, beginning with UTEP on Thursday evening. The Owls defeated the Miners in El Paso earlier this season, 69-61 on Jan. 23 and have won the last four meetings. The Miners are 2-6 in their last eight contests but are coming off an 80-72 home victory over Southern Miss last Saturday.
About UTEP
The Miners lead all of C-USA in turnovers forced per game (19.59) and are second in assists per game (15.4) and free throws attempted (563). Freshman point guard Katia Gallegos leads the league in both total assists (139) and assists per game (5.1) while wing Ariona Gill is fifth in C-USA in rebounds per game (8.8).
Last Time Out
The Owls used a 23-point turnaround to rally from a 10-point fourth quarter deficit and defeat the Louisiana Tech Lady Techsters in overtime, 73-60 last Saturday. Rice outscored Tech by a combined margin of 33-12 in the fourth quarter and OT to remain tied with Old Dominion for first place in Conference USA with two games remaining in the regular season. The Owls placed four players in double-figures in scoring, led by 22 points from junior center Nancy Mulkey. Erica Ogwumike secured her 12th double-double of the season with 15 points and 12 rebounds while sophomore guard Jasmine Smith also contributed 15 points to go along with nine rebounds and four assists.
Home Sweet Home
The Owls are 11-1 at Tudor Fieldhouse this season, their lone loss coming to then No. 5 Texas A&M, 62-61. Rice has won nine consecutive games at home and are 37-2 at Tudor Fieldhouse over the last three seasons. Dating back to 2018, the Owls have won 16 consecutive home games over C-USA opponents.
20-20 Vision
The Owls have reached the 20-win plateau in three consecutive seasons under Rice head coach Tina Langley and are one more win away from accomplishing the feat for a school record fourth straight season. Rice has compiled 92 wins (22, 23, 28, 19) over the last four seasons, the greatest stretch in program history.
What's Next

Tip-off is scheduled for approximately 3:30 p.m. with a special pregame ceremony planned for senior guard Erica Ogwumike. Erica also wrote a letter to the Rice Family that can be read here.
