
Abikhaled, Dowd Named to C-USA All-Academic Team

DALLAS - Senior Andrew Abikhaled and sophomore Travis Dowd were each named to the 2020 Conference USA Men's Cross Country All-Academic Team, the league announced on Tuesday.
The six-man, all-academic team consists of student-athletes who have earned a 3.2 cumulative grade point average or better and are a key member on their team.
Abikhaled, from Austin, Texas, posted a 3.78 GPA while majoring in Neuroscience (Global Health Technologies/Biochemistry and Cell Biology/Business). He earned C-USA All-Conference honors for a second straight season after placing 19th overall at the conference meet last month. Abikhaled is a three-time member of both the C-USA Academic Honor Roll and the Rice University President's Honor Roll. He has also been named a Rice University Scholar Athlete.
Dowd, also an Austin, Texas native, holds a 3.83 GPA in Bioengineering and placed 24th at the C-USA Championships with a time of 25:19, an improvement by 16 places from the previous year. Dowd has already been named to the C-USA Academic Honor Roll, the Rice University President's Honor Roll, and earned a C-USA Academic Medal.
