Foord, Shore sign National Letters of Intent
HOUSTON – Rice volleyball head coach Genny Volpe announced on Wednesday the addition of two student-athletes during the 2020-21 early signing period. Joining the Owls next season will be Lola Foord (South Pasadena, Calif.) and Shaylee Shore (Prosper, Texas).
"We are extremely happy to be adding these two players to our team," Volpe said. "Both compete for very high level club teams and will be prepared for the speed of the college game. Lola and Shaylee will be excellent representatives for Rice volleyball."

Lola Foord
Foord is a 5'11" right side hitter who was an All-Southern California First Team selection her junior year at South Pasadena High School. She helped lead the Tigers to the CIF State Division III Championship in a season in which she totaled 515 kills and 130 blocks in 133 sets played.
"I chose Rice because it is truly a balance between athletic and academic excellence," Foord said. "I also love the coaching staff and the culture they've created."
Foord was a Rio Hondo League All-Tournament First Team selection through her first three seasons of high school and the co-captain of her varsity squad.
"Lola is a very versatile player that will add depth and strength to our right side attacking position," Volpe said. "She is left-handed and can attack the ball very quickly and with a lot of power. Lola is also an effective blocker and defender."

Shaylee Shore
Shore is a 6'2" middle blocker from Prosper, Texas attending Rockhill High School in Frisco. A 2019 PrepVolleyball.com High Honorable Mention, Shore has amassed 506 kills and 152 blocks over 263 career sets.
"I chose Rice because of their high academics and athletics, the amazing coaches, and the beautiful campus," said Shore.
Shore was selected to play in the 2019 TGCA All-Star Game and was selected the 9-6A All-District Newcomer of the Year as a sophomore. In addition to volleyball, Shore also played center in basketball.
"As a middle blocker, Shaylee has very strong blocking instincts and is quick laterally. As an attacker, she is also a significant threat because of her quickness and arm speed. She has great court vision and awareness. In addition, she's very strong in the classroom and is a leader. She'll be a great fir for Rice volleyball.
