Road Swing Continues for Owls

UTA on Saturday and TCU on Sunday
In Brief: The Rice women's tennis team (1-2) will open a two-match swing through the Metroplex on Saturday when they take on UTA (2-0) on Saturday at 11 a.m. and wrap up the trip on Sunday with a 1 p.m. meeting with TCU (0-0).

UTA: The Mavs opened the season last weekend after wins over Cameron (4-0) and Central Oklahoma (5-2) and have won 12 of their last 14 matches at the UTA Tennis Center. This is the 11th meeting between Rice overall and the fourth consecutive. The Owls are 10-0 vs. the Mavs, including a 2-0 mark in Arlington. Rice won the last meeting 4-0 at GRBTC on 2/23/19 and the last meeting at the UTA Tennis Center, 5-2 on 2/9/18.
TCU: Sunday's match will open the Horned Frogs dual season. They opened their 2020 schedule at the Michigan Invite where they faced off against #10 Michigan, #12 Ohio State and #20 Tennessee in doubles and singles matches. They finished the 2019 season with a 12-10 record, including a 6-0 loss at GRBTC on 2/6. The win was the second in the last four meetings between the schools for Rice, but the Horned Frogs own a 27-13 lead in the series. Rice is 3-12 all-time when playing on TCU's home courts, including losses in the last five. The 0wls' last win over TCU in Ft. Worth was a 5-4 win on 3/13/98.
