Seventh Seed Sarkar Advances at ITA Oracle Masters

Faces UCF's Gabriel Decamps on Friday
The Lede: Seventh seed Sumit Sarkar raced to a quick victory in his opening singles match and split a pair of mixed doubles matches at the Oracle ITA Masters in Malibu, California on Thursday.
The Details: Sarkar and Michaela Haet opened play on Thursday morning by rallying from being down 4-2 and 40-0 to pick up a 6-4 win over Jannick Opitz of Western Michigan and Brindtha Ramasamy of Miami (Ohio). He picked up a 6-4, 6-0 win over Andrew Ton of Navy before returning to the court for a second mixed doubles match with Haet, where they took a 5-4 lead over fourth seeded Carlos Aguilar of Texas A&M and Katarina Jokic of Georgia before falling, 7-5.
Next Up: Sarkar will face UCF's Gabriel Decamps at 3 p.m. on Friday in a battle to reach the quarterfinals.
