New Sunday First Pitch Set For 10 A.M. Central Time
The Rice offense came out swinging, sending eight men to the plate on the way to a 4-0 advantage in the top of the first inning. When Florida Atlantic scratched out a run in the bottom of the third, Rice immediately answered with a score in the fourth on Bradley Gneiting's RBI single.
FAU staged a one out rally for six runs in the fifth and made it a total of nine unanswered runs for a 10-5 advantage after six. Rice battled back for two more runs and finished the day with 13 hits. The Blue & Gray has posted double-digit hits nine times this season
Individually Andrew Dunlap connected for his fourth home run of the season and the round-tripper was the 18th of his collegiate career. Freshman Justin Dunlap was 2-for-4 with a run making his sixth career start. Senior Dominic DiCaprio, a Florida native, had a big contingent of family and friends on hand to watch him go 2-for-3 with a walk and run scored.
Rice is now 8-13 overall and 0-2 in C-USA league play. Florida Atlantic improved to 13-7 on the season and 2-0 in conference. Note that Sunday's finale has been moved to a new 10 a.m. (Central) start time.
