Robert Martin Earns a Pair of C-USA Player of the Week Awards

HOUSTON — Junior forward Robert Martin was named the Conference USA Player of the Week by the league office and College Sports Madness, announced Monday afternoon.
It is Martin's first career Player of the Week honor and the second for Rice this year. He also becomes the first Rice player to earn the College Sports Madness C-USA Player of the Week award since Marcus Evans in February 2017.
The Pittsburgh, Pa., native recorded his third double-double of the year in leading Rice to an 85-81, double overtime victory at UTEP on Saturday. His performance helped the Owls erase a 20-point second half deficit, the second largest comeback in school history. The junior scored 23 points, including 20 in the second half and overtime, while grabbing a career-high 13 rebounds. It was his team-leading fourth 20-point game of the year.
For the game, Martin connected on 7-of-12 (58.3%) from the field, 2-of-3 (66.7%) from three and 7-of-10 (70.0%) from the free throw line. He helped the Owls to their first victory in El Paso since 2012.
