Rice Begins Final Scheduled Road Trip at FIU

HOUSTON — Rice begins its final weekend of scheduled games before Conference USA's Bonus Play next Thursday when it travels to Miami, Fla., to face FIU. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m. CT and the game will be livestreamed on CUSAtv.
Scouting Rice
• Rice is 10-15 overall and 5-7 in Conference USA. The Owls are looking for their second straight win after defeating Marshall, 74-69, last Saturday.
• Rice has four players averaging double-figures, led by freshman guard Chris Mullins with 12.7 points. He also leads the team in steals with 1.4 per game.
• Junior guard Ako Adams is second on the team with 12.0 points per game. He is connecting on 40.4% from three, good for ninth in the league while leading the team with 2.7 assists per game. He also leads Conference USA in free throw percentage, connecting on 89.9% from the line.
• Junior forward Robert Martin is third on the team with 11.8 points and is second with 6.3 rebounds. He is connecting on 46.5% from the field and 42.4% from three, which is fourth in Conference USA.
• Graduate student Jack Williams is scoring 10.1 points while leading the squad with 8.1 rebounds, which is fifth in the league.
• Freshman guard Trey Murphy III is scoring 8.4 points per game and is second in C-USA in three-point field goal percentage, connecting on 42.9%.
• The Owls are scoring 75.8 points but are allowing 78.5.
• Rice is connecting on 43.6% from the field and 35.2% from three. It is allowing its opponents to connect on 45.2% from the floor and 35.0% from three.
• The Owls are outrebounding their opponents, 37.8-to-36.4.

• FIU enters the game with a 14-11 record overall and is 5-7 in Conference USA. The Panthers have lost four of their last five games after falling at UTEP last Saturday, 85-75.
• FIU is led by senior guard Brian Beard, Jr., with 17.3 points, good for eighth in the league. He leads the C-USA with 3.0 steals and is second in with 6.3 assists. Beard is fifth in the league in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.9).
• Redshirt junior forward Devon Andrews is second on the team with 14.9 points and 5.3 rebounds. He is connecting on 51.2% from the field while placing 10th in the league with 1.6 steals.
• Junior guard Trejon Jacob and senior guard Willy Nunez, Jr., are both averaging 11.0 points.
• Junior forward Osasumwen Osaghae is averaging 8.8 points and is third in the conference in rebounds (8.2). He also leads the league in blocks (2.7) and is fourth in field goal percentage (62.5%).
