Alldredge Named to C-USA Football All-Academic Team

3.567 GPA while leading Owls with 102 tackles

Junior linebacker Blaze Alldredge has been named to the 2019 C-USA Football All-Academic team in a vote of the academic advisors from each school in the conference. The 11-member squad is comprised of student-athletes who have earned a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher and serve as a starter or key reserve for their school.

Alldredge has compiled a 3.576 GPA while majoring in political science and leading the Owls defensive efforts since transferring to Rice from Los Angeles Pierce College in the summer of 2018.

He led the Owls in tackles this past year with 102 stops, including 21.5 for loss. He is tied for the C-USA lead and tied for second nationally in tackles for loss and his total ranks second all-time at Rice. He wrapped up his 2019 season with a career-best 14 tackles as the Owls won their third straight, 30-16 over UTEP. It was his third game this season to reach double figures in tackles and the fifth time he has done so in his 19 career starts at Rice.
