Owls Welcome No. 16 Ranked Aggies In Non-Conference Clash
The Rice swim team is back in action with a home meet this weekend. The Owls host No. 16 ranked Texas A&M at the Competition Pool on Saturday (Nov. 9) at 1 pm.
Rice head coach Seth Huston has liked what he has seen of the team's training so far. Now in his 19th season at the helm of the Owl program, Huston respects the challenge of facing a Top 20 Aggie program.
"Texas A&M fields a strong and deep lineup throughout, particularly in breaststroke and IM," coach Huston said. "This is a great opportunity to for us to compete against a year-in and year-out top Division I program. If our student-athletes expect to compete at the NCAA Championships, then Texas A&M presents an opportunity to compete at that elite level.
"(Rice) has been training very well," he added. "We are battling some minor injuries, but that is to be expected at this time of the year. I really like what I see from Becca Evans and Sini Koivu. Brittany Bui, Ellery Parish and Lindsay Mathys have been training their best to date this season and get better each week."
The 14 swim events on the meet program are as follows. All distances are competed in short-course yards.
