Second Exhibition Set For Oct. 11 At Texas A&M
The outing was the first of two exhibitions the Owls are scheduled to play during the program's Fall training program. The event was scheduled to go 12 innings to maximize game-like conditions for as many players as possible in the off-season. Rice led 5-3 after seven complete innings.
A total of nine different Rice pitchers saw action on the night and only one hurler for either team went more than 2.0 innings (Owl Jr. RHP Kel Bordwine 2.1 IP). Junior right-hander Alex DeLeon, a transfer from McClennan College, started for the Blue & Gray and pitched two scoreless frames. On the offensive side, nine different Owls combined for 11 hits. Edwards had four base hits off four different Bearkat pitchers. Junior transfer Austin Bulman went 3-for-6 with a pair of doubles and two runs scored.
Rice head coach Matt Bragga has scheduled two exhibitions for the Fall. The second exhibition is slated for 6 pm on Oct. 11 at longtime rival Texas A&M.
