Host Rice saw its hopes for advancement to the finals of the Texas Tamale Invitational dashed on a rainy Saturday in Houston.
Jacob Eskeland dropped a super set tiebreaker to Texas' Chih Chi Huang, 2-6, 6-3, 11-9 in the Singles A Draw while teammate Karol Paluch could not overcome a loss in a first set tiebreak and fell to Tulane's Dane Esses, 7-6(6), 6-2 in the other semifinal.
Adam Oscislawski fell to Army's Diego Huttepain, 6-4, 6-2 in the Singles B Flight semis.
In doubles action, Eskeland and Paluch fell to William Mottet and Thomas Rodrigues Lopes of Texas A&M Corpus Christi, 6-3 in the Flight A semis and fell in the third place match to Tobias Lentz and Nestor Girbert-Lopez, 6-4.
Ashton Duke and AJ Valenty fell in the Flight C semis to Alejandro Quiros and Diego Huttepain of Army, 6-3.
Play wraps up at 9 a.m. on Sunday with a final round of singles.
