Women's XC Picked to Finish Third

C-USA Women's Cross Country Coaches' Poll

IRVING, Texas - The Rice Owls women's cross country team has been picked to finish third in the Conference USA Preseason Poll, released on Wednesday (Aug. 22).

Last season the Owls placed third at the C-USA Championships, marking a fourth straight season in which Rice finished among the top three in the league. Rice returns C-USA All-Conference runner Khayla Patel (Second Team), along with sophomore Lourdes Vivas de Lorenzi (Third Team). Rice is led by veteran head coach Jim Bevan, who returns for a 14th season.

The defending C-USA champion Charlotte 49ers were picked as the preseason favorite with five first-place votes while Southern Miss was slated to place second with four first-place votes.
