Filip Earns Gold at Pan Am Combined Events Cup

OTTAWA - Rice graduate Scott Filip won his second career decathlon title at the Pan American Combined Events Cup on Wednesday, representing the United States and capturing gold with 7643 points.
The Pan Am Cup is a fixture on the IAAF World Combined Events Challenge Series, which brings together the best decathletes in the western hemisphere.
The Bloomingdale, Ill. native won four events in total highlighted by a 938-point performance in the 100m dash (10.66) and 930 points in the long jump (7.48m).
Filip concluded his illustrious Rice career in the spring, which included five All-American accolades.
