Card-Childers Places 9th at USATF Championships

RESULTS
DES MOINES, IA - Rice junior Charlie Card-Childers recorded 7090 points to place ninth overall in the decathlon at the USATF Outdoor Championships Friday at Drake Stadium. With his performance, Card-Childers was awarded a USA kit and named a member of the USA Thorpe Cup team, which will take place July 27-28.
Card-Childer's best performance on Friday was in the javelin, where he placed sixth overall with a top throw of 53.58m (175-09). He also placed eighth in the high jump on Thursday, clearing 1.90m (6-02.75).
The Thorpe Cup, which will take place Fayetteville, Ark., is an international track & field compeition between USA and Germany. Teams are composed of up to seven men who compete in the decathlon. The top five men's scores are added together to determine the overall team winners.
