IRVING, Texas - Rice senior Scott Filip was selected the Conference USA Male Field Athlete of the Year for a second straight season, the league office announced on Thursday (June 14).
Filip became just the fifth athlete in league history to win consecutive C-USA Athlete of the Year awards and the first field athlete to accomplish the feat since Mickael Hanany (UTEP) in 2006-07.

A seven-time C-USA champion, Filip captured both of the league's decathlon (third career) and heptathlon (fourth career) titles, becoming the first athlete in league history to accomplish the latter. His 7876 points at the Texas Relays in March was the the eighth-best performance in the nation this season.
The Bloomingdale, Ill. native was selected to the C-USA All-Academic Team and earned C-USA Athlete of the Week honors on Feb. 6 during the indoor season.
