Carvalho, Riddle Earn C-USA Weekly Honors

HOUSTON - Rice sophomore Adolfo Carvalho and senior Austin Riddle were selected the Conference USA Male Track Athlete of the Week and Athlete of the Week, respectively, the league announced on Tuesday.
Carvalho won his second 3000m steeplechase competition of the season with a winning time of 9:18.48. The sophomore from Cockeysville, Md. has placed first or second in all four races this outdoor season and will enter the C-USA Championships with the fifth-best mark in the steeplechase.
Riddle had a standout performance at the Tom Tellez Invitational in Houston, placing second in both the hammer throw and discus. The Houston native set a season-best mark of 66.35m in the hammer, the second-best throw of the C-USA season and currently 27th-best in the nation. Riddle also threw 51.74m in the discus. He ranks second in both the hammer throw and discus entering the C-USA Championships.
Rice will be hosting the C-USA Outdoor Championships, which will last this Thursday-Sunday at Wendel D. Ley Track.
