Meissner Named to C-USA All-Academic Team

HOUSTON, Texas — Senior Mitchell Meissner was named to the 2018 InTouch Credit Union Conference USA Men's Golf All-Academic Team, announced Friday afternoon by the conference office.
Meissner earns the award for the second straight year. He is just the third Owl to earn the award twice and the second to be named in consecutive seasons.
Members must have a 3.2 cumulative grade point average and have participated in 75% of your scheduled tournaments this season. Candidates should be a sophomore class standing.
Meissner has a 3.93 GPA in Economics & Sport Management. He is a four-time honoree of the Conference USA Academic Honor Roll and the C-USA Academic Medal.
The San Antonio native is just one of two golfers to participate in all nine events, leading the squad with a 71.97 stroke average. He has two top five, four top ten and six top 20 finishes, including 15 rounds of par or better. Meissner earned his second career victory at the Ryman Hospitality Intercollegiate (4/9-10), becoming just the second Owl with two career victories since 1985. He fired a season-low 67 in the first round and tied his career-high 36-hole score (136) and set a season-best 54-hole score (208). His performance earned him Conference USA Co-Golfer of the Week honors.
Meissner also had a fourth-place finish at the ORU/SFA Spring Break Challenge (3/12-14), tied for seventh-place at the Steelwood Collegiate Classic (10/28-29) and tied for sixth-place at the Louisiana Classics (2/26-27).
