Owls Close Day One at Valspar Collegiate Invitational

Palm City, Fla. — The Rice Men's Golf team began play at the Valspar Collegiate Invitational.
The Owls carded rounds of 282-291 to sit in 15th-place at +5.
Junior Reggie Zhu and sophomore Daniel Zou are tied for 48th-place at even par. Zhu posted consecutive rounds of 71, while Zou shot 70-72. Zhu has 11 rounds of par or better this year and 30 in his career, while Zou now has 14 this year and 35 in his career.
Senior Lukas Boandl and freshman Raines Watson are tied for 60th-place at +3. Boandl carded rounds of 70-75, while Watson posted a 71-74. Boandl has a team-high 19 rounds of par or better this year and 57 in his career, while Watson has 12 this year.
Redshirt junior Henry Daly carded consecutive 74's to sit in a 74th-place tie at +6.
No. 1 Auburn leads the tournament at -30, two strokes in front of No. 10 Texas Tech. USC's Jaden Dumdumaya and Florida State's Tyler Weaver are tied for the tournament lead at -11, two strokes in front of Oklahoma's Ryder Cowan.
