Men’s Golf Face Rough Conditions on Day One of All-American Intercollegiate

HUMBLE, Texas — Facing rough conditions and 30 mile an hour winds, the Rice Men's Golf team concluded Day One at the All-American Intercollegiate, played at the Golf Club of Houston.
The Owls carded rounds of 311-305 to sit in a tie for fifth-place with Abilene Christian at +40.
Sophomore Daniel Zou is tied for 13th-place at +8. He began the day by carding the only round under par in the opening round with a 71. However, he followed it with an 81. The 71 was his 12th round of par or better this year and the 33rd of his career.
Senior Lukas Boandl posted consecutive 77's to sit at +10 in a tie for 19th-place. Junior Reggie Zhu is tied for 24th-place at +11 after carding rounds of 80-75.
Redshirt junior Henry Daly carded an 83-75 to sit in a 46th-place tie at +14, and freshman Raines Watson is tied for 68th-place at +19 after shooting rounds of 85-78.
No. 4 Arkansas leads the tournament at +21, two strokes in front of Eastern Michigan. Tarleton State's Alvaro Pastor leads the tournament at -1, five strokes in front of Eastern Michigan's Robby Turnbull.
At the All-American Individual, junior Jaivir Pande is tied for 10th-place at +14 after carding rounds of 77-81. Redshirt senior Davis Byrd posted rounds of 81-82 to sit in a tie for 22nd-place at +19. Junior Braeden Hoyt sits at +21 in a 30th-place tie after carding rounds of 84-81.

The final round begins tomorrow with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. Rice will tee off from holes No. 5-9, and will be paired with student-athletes from Abilene Christian, Louisiana-Monroe, and UTRGV.
