Cunningham Selected C-USA Defensive Player of the Week

Junior earns fourth weekly award
IRVING, Texas – Rice junior libero Lee Ann Cunningham was once again named the Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week for the third time in four weeks, the league office announced on Monday (11/25).
Cunningham helped the Owls clinch the C-USA regular season title and run the team's win streak to 15 straight by collecting 32 digs over seven sets (4.57 per set) in a pair of victories.
The Louisville, Ky. native posted 14 digs in a sweep of Charlotte and followed that performance with 18 more digs in the Owls 3-1 triumph over UAB. Both the 49ers (.049) and Blazers (.176) hit under .200 for the match.
The junior currently ranks fourth during league play with 4.64 digs per set. For Cunningham, the award was her fourth C-USA weekly honor this season.
The Owls will go for their 16th straight victory this Thursday, Nov. 8 when they travel to Florida Atlantic for a 6 p.m. (CT) start from Boca Raton. Rice will close out their regular season on Saturday when they take on FIU at 12 p.m. (CT).
