Owls Conclude Road Swing at Little Rock
The Owls will look to pickup their first win of the season this Sunday when they travel to Little Rock to face the Trojans at the Jack Stephens Center. The Trojans lead the all-time series, 7-2, but last season the Owls defeated Little Rock 58-51 at Tudor Fieldhouse.
Last Time Out
The Rice Owls women's basketball team hung tough on the road at No. 23 UCLA but the Bruins fended off a late comeback attempt, hanging on to win 59-50 in a defensive battle at Pauley Pavilion. The Owls were within single digits a majority of the night, and faced just a 55-50 deficit with 1:48 left in the game before a late UCLA three-pointer put the game away. Rice (0-2) was led in scoring by junior guard Erica Ogwumike, who scored 13 points and came up one rebound shy of a double-double..
Little Rock Scouting Report
The Little Rock Trojans are 2-0 after a 61-38 win against FAU earlier this week. The home openers result gives Little Rock back-to-back wins to start the year off for the first time since the 2014-2015 season. The Trojans were voted No. 1 in the Sun Belt's preseason poll, receiving eight first-place first and accumulating 133 points overall. Trojan senior Ronjanae DeGray was picked as the conference's Preseason Player of the Year along with being selected to the First-Team All-Conference squad.
Next Up
The Owls make their long-awaited home debut on Tuesday, Nov. 20 against Texas Southern with tip-off scheduled for 7 p.m. from Tudor Fieldhouse.
