The Lead: Sumit Sarkar picked up a win over ranked opponent and joined Conrad Russell in advancing to the third round of singles play in the ITA Texas Regional at the Hurd Tennis Center in Waco on Saturday.
The Details: Sarkar advanced with a straight set win over Baylor's 78th ranked Matias Soto 6-3, 6-4, while Russell also defeated a member of the host team, dropping Constantin Frantzen of Baylor 6-3, 6-3. Eric Rutledge bounced back from an opening round singles loss to pick up a pair of wins in the consolation bracket. Rice also saw two doubles teams win their opening matches on Saturday.
