Russell Leads Owls on Day One of Texas Regional

The Lead: Conrad Russell posted his first career win over a nationally ranked opponent to highlight action for Rice on the first day of the 2018 ITA Texas Regional at the Hurd Tennis Center in Waco, Texas.
The Details: With rain forcing all action indoors on Friday, Rice took five of nine singles matches. Russell picked up a pair of wins, including a 6, 6-2 win over 62nd ranked Leonardo Telles of Texas.

The Goal: Winners in singles and doubles in the regional will advance to the Oracle ITA National Fall Championships from November 7-11, 2018, at the Surprise Tennis & Racquet Complex in Surprise, Arizona, which recently hosted the 2018 NCAA Division II National Championships and previously hosted the 2016 ITA Small College Championships.
