
Bowtell and Zhang Grab Titles to Wrap Rice Invite

Wendy Zhang picked up her second title while freshman Anna Bowtell completed a memorable first weekend of collegiate competition by giving Rice a second singles winner as the Rice Fall Invitational drew to a close on Sunday at the George R. Brown Tennis Center.
Zhang, who captured the Flight 2 doubles title along with Savannah Durkin on Saturday, downed Kansas' Maria Toran Ribes 6-1/7-6(6) to win the Flight 2 singles title.
Bowtell outlasted Kylie Moulin of Alabama, 7-5/6-4 to take the Flight 5 singles title.
Zhang will join Michaela Haet and Lindsey Hodge in competing in the 2017 Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships next weekend in at the Riviera Tennis Club in Pacific Palisades, California.
Zhang will open play on Saturday in the pre-qualifying singles round as will Haet and Hodge in pre-qualifying doubles. Haet and Hodge will begin singles play in the qualifying round on October 3.
