AUSTIN - Rice junior distance runner Griffin Lee placed 35th in the 3000m steeplechase at Friday's evening's NCAA West Prelims, hosted by the University of Texas.
Griffin, from Birmingham, Ala., was competing in his first career NCAA T&F prelims and finished in a time of 9:29.12. A member of the C-USA All-Academic Team, Griffin placed fifth in the same event at the C-USA Outdoor Championships and posted three top-three finishes in the event during the outdoor campaign.
Rice redshirt sophomore Charlie Card-Childers will look to advance to the NCAA Outdoor Championships on Saturday when he competes in the high jump at 6 p.m. (CT).
