Astete and Niezgoda Close Out Unbeaten Slates

Priya Niezgoda and Fernanda Astete completed unbeaten weekend to lead the Rice women's team on the final day of competition at TCU's Haunted Horned Frog Classic in Fort Worth on Sunday.
Niezgoda defeated Baylor's Kristina Sorokolet, 6-3, 6-3, while Astete outlasted TCU's Stevie Kennedy 6-3, 3-6, 6-1.
"A lot of good quality, hard fought matches out there today," Rice head coach Elizabeth Schmidt said. "Kudos to Fer and Priya for going undefeated on the weekend in singles. Overall, a solid weekend of competing as a group and one that we can definitely build on."
