
Hodge & Zhang Advance to Regional Title Match

Lindsey Hodge and Wendy Zhang raced past SMU's Sarai Monarrez and Ana Luisa Perez Lopez, 6-1; 6-3 on Monday to earn a spot in the doubles championship match of the 2017 ITA Texas Regional Championships Presented by Oracle in Fort Worth on Monday.
Hodge and Zhang, the regional's fourth seeds, will take on Texas' Marta Perez Mur and Dani Wagland, who outlasted the top seeds, Maria Kononova and Tamuna Kutubidze of North Texas, 6-7(7); 6-3; 7-5. The winner of Tuesday's 10 a.m. title match will earn and automatic berth in the ITA National Fall Championships at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden in Indian Wells, California.
They are the Owls first finalists in the Texas Regional since 2014 when Natalie Beazant earned a berth in the singles final.
They will be joined in action on the tournament's final day by fellow senior Savannah Durkin, who reached the singles consolation championship match with a 6-2,6-3 win over Texas A&M's Dorthea Hviding.
