Karakolis Earns C-USA All-Academic Team Honors

IRVING, Texas - Just one day removed from earning CoSIDA Academic All-District 7 honors, Rice senior javelin thrower Evan Karakolis was named to the C-USA All-Academic Team for the third time in his career, the league office announced on Friday.
Karakolis, a Capital One Academic All-American First Team selection last year, is a Mechanical Engineering major with a 4.13 GPA. He was named the C-USA Athlete of the Week on April 26 after he broke his own school record in the javelin with a throw of 79.30m (260'2") to win at the Kansas Relays. That mark has held up as the No. 3 throw in the nation this season.
The senior from Scarborough, Ontario is competing at the NCAA West Prelims this afternoon.
