Hansen to Play for B Flight Singles Title

Rice freshman Jake Hansen swept to a pair of singles wins on Saturday to advance to the B Flight championship match of the Rice Fall Invitational at the George R. Brown Tennis Center at Rice on Saturday.
Hansen downed Tulane's Alex Van Cott 6-4, 6-3 then came back to oust Texas' Julian Zlobinsky 6-3, 6-0 to set up a championship matchup with Lamar's Michael Feucht on Sunday. The singles match play will begin after the final round of doubles, which begins at 9 a.m.
Sophomore Jamie Malik fell short of joining Hansen in a championship match on Sunday. Malik opened Saturday with an A Flight quarterfinal win over Juan Cruz Soria of Texas-Rio Grande Valley, but dropped his semifinal match to Constantin Schmitz of Texas, 6-4, 6-2. Malik will play Joey Vatanadilok of Incarnate Word on Sunday.
