Warren Announces Signing of Yow

HOUSTON - Rice men's head track and field coach Jon Warren announced the signing of Michael Yow to a National Letter of Intent in the early signing period on Monday.
Yow (Lake Country Christian School-Fort Worth, Texas) broke the Texas high school state record in the 12 Ib. hammer throw with a mark of 218'04" this past season. Yow, who also played guard and defensive tackle for the Eagles' football team, holds a lifetime best of 194'07" in the 16 Ib. college implement.
Yow competed at the Rice Summer All-Comers Meet on June 4 this past year, winning the hammer throw with a mark of 59.32m while placing second in the shot put (14.57m) and third in the discus (43.66m).
