Owls Place Third at HBU Invitational

HOUSTON, Texas - The Rice Owls women's cross country team had five runners compete at Friday's HBU Invitational, placing third out of four teams in the 5,000m race.
Rice, ranked seventh in the latest USTFCCCA South Central Regional rankings, was led by redshirt sophomore Abby Halm, who placed with a time of 19:37.2. The Owls also got top-20 finishes from redshirt freshman Anna Figueroa (13th-19:45.57) and senior Audrey Wassef (15th-19:53.81). Senior Christina Wassef (21st-20:33.01) and junior Savannah Rohloff (22nd-20:36.26) also competed for the Owls.
Texas A&M (18) took the team title in the 40-person field, followed by host Houston Baptist (55 points), Rice (66 points) and Prairie View A&M 102 points).6
The Owls will next compete at the Pre-National Invitational on Oct. 17 in Louisville, Kentucky.
