
Warren Reaches Invitational Semis

Rice sophomore David Warren picked up three wins on Saturday to advance to the singles semifinals in the Rice Fall Invitational Tournament at Jake Hess Tennis Stadium on Saturday.
Warren opened play on Saturday morning by dropping his first set against the fifth seed, Jolan Cailleau of Texas Tech, but rebounded to take the match 6-7, 6-3, 11-9. He then moved on with straight set wins over Constantinn Schmitz of Tulane (6-1, 6-4) and Linus Erhart of Nebraska (7-6 (2), 6-2). He will take on Nikita Lis of Lamar for a berth in the final on Sunday morning.
Junior Adam Gustafsson joined Warren in the quarterfinals thanks to wins over Vasileious Stavropolous of Nebraska (6-3, 6-1) and Fran Zambon of Texas Tech (5-7, 6-3, 10-8) before falling to second-seeded Tony Lupieri of Baylor (6-3, 6-1).
A pair of Rice doubles teams needed tiebreakers to move on to the round of 16 in the doubles main dra . Warren and Jamie Malik defeated Nebraska's Andrew Dzulnsky and Charlie Shin 6-5 (4) while Gustafsson and Max Andrews dropped Texas A&M's Max Montague and Jett Cash by the same score.
Final action in the Rice Fall Invitational is set to begin on Sunday morning at Jake Hess Tennis Stadium
