"I'm so proud of the way we competed tonight," Rice head coach Jim Bevan said. "To have three girls finish under 14 minutes is terrific and we really showed our depth."
Roper, a sophomore from Willis, Texas, won her first-ever cross country race in a time of 13:23, six seconds quicker than teammate and second place finisher Katie Jensen (13:29). Freshman Madi McLellan stood out in her collegiate debut with a third place finish of 13:31. The Owls had another freshman finish in the top 10 in France native Elsa Racasan, who posted a mark of 14:01.
