Chaney Named C-USA Male Track Athlete Of The Week

Clayton Chaney earned Conference USA Outdoor Athlete of the Week honors by scoring a winning and NCAA leading 7,598 points in the decathlon at the Shirley Crowe Multi Events at Holloway Track/Ley Field.
The total tops the NCAA charts by more than 600 points and moves Chaney into second on Rice's all-time decathlon performers list. His winning long jump leap of 7.26-meters (23-10") ranks him 25th in the nation. Chaney also won the 110m hurdles (14.78), pole vault (4.35m/14-3.25"), high jump (1.99m/6-6.5") and shot put (13.91m/45-7.75"). This is his first C-USA Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week honor for the season.
The Owls return to the track for the Texas Relays this weekend.
