Eugene, Ore. - There were three Rice Owls and a relay squad competing on the third and final day of the NCAA West Preliminary Round, held at the University of Oregon's Hayward Field.
Rice's men's 4x400m relay team comprised of Collin Shurbet, Jacob Owolabi, Connor Hayes and Donte Moore was 22nd with a time of 3:13.18. Sophomore Sharae Robinson placed 42nd in the discus with a mark of 44.04m/144-6. In the men's triple jump senior Ugo Nduaguba finished 15th with a mark of 15.50m/50-10.25. Nicole Mericle, a senior competing in the 5000m, finished 46th with a time of 17:33.96.
