Polyakov and Podlewski Reach Consolation Semis

Rice's Dennis Polyakov and Oscar Podlewski won a pair of matches on Saturday to advance to the consolation semifinals of the 121st Pacific Coast Doubles Championships, being held at the La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club in La Jolla, California.
Polyakov and Podlewski reached the semis thanks to a 6-3, 7-5 victory over Pepperdine's Stuart Keplar and Daniel Moss . They will play on Sunday morning at 11 am (central). The championship match of the consolation bracket is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Sunday.
Rice assistant coach Efe Ustundag, pairing with countryman and former Tennessee Tech player Volkan Salar, lost to Jonathan Dahan and Pedro Zerbini of California (6-6, 6-1) in the round of 16 in the championship bracket.
The Owls (6-5 and ranked 31st) will return to dual action with a three match homestand this week against ranked opponents. They will host 22nd ranked North Carolina at 1 pm on Wednesday, followed by 19th ranked Florida State on Friday at noon and 10th ranked California at 11 a.m. on Sunday. All matches will be held at Jake Hess Tennis Stadium.
