- Rice captains for the Tulane game were Sam McGuffie, Tyler Smith, Chris Jones, and Cheta Ozougwu. Rice won the pregame coin toss and deferred to the second half.
- Charles Ross had a career long kickoff return for 51 yards then broke it again on the second half opening kickoff with a 64 yard return. His previous long was 36 yards against UTEP last year.
- Charles Ross had 261 yards in returns setting a school record surpassing the previous record set by Shane Turner with 200 vs. UAB.
- The Owls had a total of 322 return yards on 9 returns, school record. The previous record was 223 yards against Navy last year on eleven returns.
- Denzel Wells had a career long kickoff return for 41 yards. His previous long was 30 yards against UTEP.
- Turner Petersen had a career long kickoff return for 22 yards. His previous long was 15 yards.
- Derek Clark had a career high reception game with 4 receptions. He had a career high receiving yards with 58 yards. His previous high was 49 against North Texas.
- Vance McDonald had career high 3 touchdown receptions in a game. His previous high was 2 against UTEP. Last time Rice had a player catch 3 touchdown receptions in a game was Toren Dixon last year against Tulane.
- Vance McDonald had a career high reception game with 103 yards. He had Rice's first 100+ yard reception game since Toren Dixon had 158 yards against Tulane last year. It was the 13th time an Owl has had three or more TD catches in a game. Jarett Dillard holds the record with four vs. North Texas in 2008.

- Xavier Webb had his first career punt return for 17 yards. He is the fifth Owl to return a punt this year.
- Nick Fanuzzi had 109 pass attempts without an interception. With his 13 completions of the day, he surpassed Quentis Roper's (1985-88) 301 completions to move into 6th all-time at Rice with 313 completions.
- Kyle Martens has had 18 of 46 punts this season downed inside the 20. 10 of those 18 have been downed inside or at the 10 yard line.
- Turner Peterson had a career long rush for 36 yards breaking his previous record of 14 yards.
- Travis Bradshaw moved into 10th all-time for career tackles at Rice with 278.
- Justin Allen had a career high game with 12 total tackles.
