Corpus Christi, Texas - The Rice women's cross country team placed second at the Islander Splash hosted by Texas A&M Corpus Christi. The Owls totaled 43 points to first place Texas' 28 points.
Rice freshman Heather Olson placed third on the 5k course to lead the Owls. Olson's time was 17:00.5 and she was the first varsity athlete across the finish line behind two unattached runners.
Marie Thompson was seventh for Rice with a time of 17:13.0, while Halsey Fowler was 11th (17:41.9). The fourth Owl to finish was freshman Johanna Ohm with a time 17:52.8 and Michaela Reynolds was 17th at 17:59.7.
Senior Claire Shorall placed 30th at 18:22.1 and Addie Quinn was 56th (19:35.1).
