
Adam Places 14th in Decathlon at NCAA Outdoor Championship

Fayetteville, Ark. -- Rice junior decathlete Philip Adam scored a lifetime-best in placing 14th in the decathlon competition at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championship at Arkansas' John McDonnell Field. Oregon's Ashton Eaton won the event with 8,241 points, just ahead of North Carolina's Mateo Sossah, who tallied 8,044 points.
Adam, from Santa Maria, Calif., totaled 7,358 points across the two-day event surpassing his previous best of 7,331 points amassed at the Conference USA Outdoor Championship. On Thursday, Adam posted a season-best time in the 1500m (4:34.85) and a season-best mark in the javelin (46.40m/152-3).
