Owls Go Camo on Friday

The Rice Owls will have a decidedly different look when they take the field on Friday in the opening game of their series with UCF at Reckling Park. Wayne Graham's Owls will trade in their traditional uniform tops and wear special camouflage jerseys as part of Military Appreciation Night.
In addition to saluting the members of the military, Owls fans in attendance will have the first chance to own one of these distinctive jerseys. A limited supply of the authentic Rice Camo jersey will be on sale at the Reckling Souvenir shop during the game. A limited number of the jerseys worn by the Owls during the game will also be available through the .
The Owls are offering special $5 tickets for both active and former members of the military for Friday's game. Pre-game ceremonies will include a Rice ROTC color guard, the national anthem presented by a member of "Buglers Across American", in-game recognition of the various groups of military in attendance and the playing of "God Bless America" during the seventh inning stretch.
Friday's opener is the first of a three-game series with UCF that will wrap up the Owls league home action. The series will continue with a 2 p.m. start on Saturday and conclude with a Mother's Day celebration on Sunday at 1 p.m. They conclude their 2009 regular season schedule at home on Tuesday, May 12 vs. Louisiana-Lafayette.
