Baseball Adds New Spring Signee To Existing Incoming Class

HOUSTON -- The Rice baseball program has added a new signee from the spring semester to go along with the existing nine-player signing class from last fall (giving the Owls a total of 10 newcomers who will join the team for the 2010 season), announced head coach Wayne Graham on Wednesday (April 15).
The new signee is Jon Thomas Chargois of Sulphur High School in Sulphur, La. Chargois is a 6-foot-2, 180-pound, right-handed pitcher/switch-hitting shortstop who has helped Sulphur HS rank among the top prep programs in Louisiana.
Chargois joins the signing class from last fall that includes pitchers Chris Anagnostou, Tyler Duffey, Jeremy Fant, Will Gray, Kevin Hahn and Tyler Spurlin, along with infielder Michael Ratterree and outfielders Chase McDowell and Will Maxwell. The signees officially enroll at Rice in the fall of 2009. Their first baseball season with the Owls would be in the spring of 2010.
